How to Apply for a New Voter ID (Form 6)

If you have turned 18 years old or will turn 18 on any of the qualifying dates (1st Jan, 1st April, 1st July, 1st Oct), you are eligible to register as a new voter using Form 6.

Step-by-Step Online Registration:

1. Visit the official ECI portal: voters.eci.gov.in (previously NVSP) or open the Voter Helpline App.
2. Click on "Sign Up" and create an account using your mobile number and password.
3. Log in and select "New Voter Registration (Form 6)".
4. Select your State, District, and Assembly Constituency.
5. Upload your Passport-size Photo, Age Proof (Aadhaar, PAN, 10th Certificate), and Address Proof.
6. Submit the form and note down the Reference ID generated on the screen.

How to Make Corrections or Shift Address (Form 8)

If there is a spelling mistake in your name, a wrong date of birth, or if you have changed your residence to a new city/state, you must submit Form 8.

Steps for Correction / Shifting:

• Log in to the Voter Portal and select "Fill Form 8 (Correction/Shifting)".
• Choose whether you are applying for "Self" or "Family" and enter the EPIC (Voter ID) number.
• Select the reason: Shifting of Residence, Correction of Entries, Issue of Replacement EPIC, or Request for PwD marking.
• Tick the exact boxes you want to change (e.g., Name, Address, Photo).
• Upload the correct supporting document and submit.
• Your physical PVC Voter ID card will be delivered to your updated address via Speed Post.

How to Download e-EPIC (Digital Voter ID)

The e-EPIC is a secure, non-editable PDF version of your Voter ID that is equally valid as the physical card. You can download it directly to your phone or Digilocker.

Steps to Download:

1. Log in to voters.eci.gov.in and click on the "E-EPIC Download" button.
2. Enter your EPIC number or the Form 6 Reference Number.
3. Click "Search" to verify your details.
4. Click on "Send OTP". The OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Voter ID.
5. Enter the OTP and click "Download e-EPIC". The PDF file will be saved on your device.
